Responsibilities:
A Medical Technologist works under the supervision of the Manager of Laboratory Services and/or the Transfusion Services Manager.
Performs and interprets designated test procedures in the Rapid Response Laboratory, Blood Bank, and Microbiology as trained.
Responsible for adhering to regulations as issued by CAP, AABB, FDA, OSHA and any other applicable regulatory agencies.
Performs a variety of laboratory duties following established procedures, protocols and guidelines of the department and/or organization.
Performs quality control, trains new employees, adheres to hospital policies, takes part in continuing education and maintains positive interpersonal relationships.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
BS in physical science and registry in Medical Technology (MT-ASCP or equivalent).
Must have current CPR Certification or obtain within 90 days of hire.
Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
Must be familiar with various computer software applications or LIS and type a minimum of 40 WPM.
Must have excellent analytical and interpersonal skills.
